Opposition leader Navin Ramgoolam secures a landslide victory in Mauritius's parliamentary elections, the election commission announces. His Alliance of Change (ADC) coalition wins 62.6% of the vote, capturing 60 of 62 National Assembly seats, according to the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation. Addressing jubilant supporters, the 77-year-old Ramgoolam declares, "A new Mauritius awakes." This victory grants the three-time former prime minister a fourth term, having previously served from 1995 to 2000 and 2005 to 2014.

Two explosions occur near Brazil's Supreme Federal Court (STF) in Brasília on Wednesday evening, leaving one person dead and prompting the area to be cordoned off. Minutes later, Francisco Wanderley Luiz, the vehicle's owner, detonates explosives attached to his body in Praça dos Três Poderes.
