The U.S. and European Union have reached a trade agreement, ending months of tensions by setting a 15% tariff on all EU exports to the U.S.—half the 30% rate previously threatened by President Donald Trump. In return, the EU will grant zero-percent tariffs on select U.S. products. The deal was finalized after high-stakes talks between Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland. While von der Leyen welcomed the agreement as a stabilizing step, France’s Minister Benjamin Haddad criticized it as “unbalanced,” despite sector-specific exemptions.
