Google partners with Chile to build the Humboldt Cable, the first trans-Pacific submarine fiber optic cable linking South America with Asia and Oceania. Scheduled for deployment in 2027, the 14,800 km cable will connect Valparaíso, Chile, to Sydney, Australia, via French Polynesia. Officials call it a transformative step to boost Chile’s role as a digital hub, attracting tech, mining, and banking investments in both Chile and Australia.
