Bangladesh’s interim government under Muhammad Yunus sends an official extradition request to New Delhi seeking the return of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina after the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced her to death. The tribunal handed the 78-year-old former leader and ex–home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal capital punishment on November 17 for “crimes against humanity” in a trial held in absentia, as both currently reside in India, according to state-run BSS.
